Intel Unite® Small Business Installation Guide

Intel Unite® Hub (dynaEdge) Installation

  1. Connect dynaEdge and client laptop PCs to the same network.
  2. Run Intel Unite Hub.mui.msi on your dynaEdge.
  3. Select Small Business and follow instructions on the screen until setup is completed.
  4. Launch Intel Unite® and follow the instructions on the screen to customize your dynaEdge.
  5. Following screen will be displayed – Do you want to configure the computer as an Intel Unite® appliance ?
    • SelectingYes will configure your system as an Intel Unite® appliance.
      • When a Hub is configured as an appliance, the Intel Unite® application will automatically start when the Hub PC is turned on and the Intel Unite® application will operate in full screen mode.
      • The following changes will be made to your system:
        • A new non-administrative user will be created:
          • User name: UniteUser
          • Password: P@ssw0rd
        • The computer will be set to automatically login as UniteUser and start the Intel Unite® application when the system boots up.
        • A Windows firewall exception will be added to allow the Intel Unite® application.
          • The power settings will be set to “Always On.”
    • Selecting No will place a shortcut on your desktop and allow you to launch the Intel Unite® application manually and you will have option to adjust systems settings manually.
      • Adjust Network Firewall.
        • Intel Unite® application needs an exemption in the Hub firewall to check in and communicate with the Enterprise Server.
  6. Recommended Hub Practices
    • In order to ensure the best possible end user experience, the Hub should be configured so that it is always ready to be used and system alerts or popups that display on the screen are suppressed. Recommended practices include the following:
      • Windows should automatically log-in to automatically start Intel Unite® application.
      • Screen savers should be disabled.
      • System should be set to never go to standby.
      • System should be set to never log out.
      • Display should be set to never turn off.
      • System alerts should be suppressed.

Intel Unite® Client Laptop PC Setup

  1. On Client Laptop PCs, download and run Intel Unite® Client software.
  2. Enter PIN to connect to Intel Unite® Hub.
  3. Start using Intel Unite® software on your Laptop PC.

Intel Unite® Server Installation Quick Start Guide

Enterprise Server Installation

  1. Setup Microsoft Windows Server 2008 or later with latest updates.
  2. Setup Web Server:
    • Verify that IIS version 8.0 or greater is installed on your Server and IIS is enabled.
    • Setup the SMTP email server under IIS Manager.
    • Make sure you have installed and enabled ASP.NET 4.5.
    • Ensure SSL is enabled in IIS.
  3. Setup Microsoft SQL:
    • Make sure you have administrative access to MS SQL via Windows authentication or SQL authentication.
  4. Setup DNS Service Record (highly recommended):
    • Add a DNS Service record to enable your Unite® Hub & Client to automatically discover your Enterprise Server.
  5. Setup DHCP - if it is not already setup on your network.
  6. Setup Certification Authority.
  7. Install Intel Unite® Server Software.

Intel Unite® Hub (dynaEdge) Installation

  1. Join dynaEdge to the same network or Domain as the Intel Unite® Server.
  2. Locate the installer folder and run the installer for the Hub: Intel Unite Hub.mui.msi
    • Please choose Enterprise for installation.
  3. Connecting to server, choose
    • Automatically Find Server: This is the recommended choice (default) with DNS service record.
    • Specify Server: In this step, you need to know the hostname for Enterprise Server.
      • Enter the hostname of the PIN Server.
      • Enter the certificate public key if you know the certificate public key.
  4. Adjust Network Firewall
    • Intel Unite® application needs an exemption in the Hub firewall to check in and communicate with the Enterprise Server.
  5. Optional
    • Setup desired Plug-ins.
  6. Recommended Hub Practices

      • Windows should automatically log in the domain or user that Intel Unite® application will execute
      • Screen savers should be disabled

  7. Launch the Intel Unite® application on your dynaEdge.
  8. Ensure that you see Intel Unite® Client PIN on screen.

Intel Unite® Client Laptop PC Setup

  1. On Client Laptop PCs, download and run Intel Unite® Client software.
  2. Enter PIN to connect to the dynaEdge.
  3. Start using Intel Unite® software on your Laptop PC.
